Braving a Monsoon For a Fried Buckeye

So begins the year of the LASTs....

We know for sure we don't want to be in Ohio at this time next year (although we have LOVED, LOVED, LOVED our time here!).  So about this time I am getting sad knowing this is our last set of season tickets to see Buckeye football, our last fall in Ohio, our last chance to go to the pumpkin show, last year to experience all Ohio has to offer.

Our latest outing was our last time at the Ohio State Fair.  We only had day that would even work so we could go since I was going out of town, and according to weather.com (my first mistake....I should have learned my lesson after our weekend in Chicago).  I thought we'd be okay with only a 40% chance of rain.  We headed out and began our quest to find some unhealthy delicacies the fair had to offer.  Nate ended up with some deep fried mac 'n cheese and some fried buckeyes....one of those puppies make me feel awful!

My 3 year old's agenda was but one thing, to ride the rides.  In my opinion the rides he really wanted to go on were completely lame, except for the ginormous slide, which was a great choice.

One of my favorite things at the fair is watching the kids react around the animals...the nasty dirty pigs, the huge milk cows, the beautiful horses, the stinky bunnies, baby lambs, the sheep that make Tucker jump whenever they "baaa."  My poor kids need a little more exposure to such things!

The skies were not friendly looking the entire time we were there, but again, I trusted weather.com and thought we'd be okay.  By the time we got done looking at the cows and walked outside there was a crazy dark cloud coming our way, I knew what was coming, umbrellas were in the car....awesome.  We started walking towards the car and decided to take cover for a few minutes in a vendor building, it was a good thing we did because the rain started, and it came down HARD!  About 30 minutes later we thought we were in the clear, the rain had turned into a sprinkle, so we decided to head for the car.  OH MY.  The rain started and there was no where to go to take cover, so we kept trudging on, trying to cover the kids with the stroller canopy, like that helped :)  By the time we got to the car, the rain was coming down so hard, I couldn't see because there was so much water in my eyes and my mascara was running everywhere.  My poor boys were soaked from head to toe, but neither of them complained.

Lets just say that I won't soon forget my LAST Ohio State Fair :)

That looks like to much fun...minus the rain:) It looks like Tucker was kind of loving it though.

Oh no! You really did get soaked! I bet that it's going to be very bittersweet to leave Ohio. You guys have done so many fun things. More adventures ahead! =)

We hit up the fair today, but didn't try any fried foods other than a corn dog. We just aren't as exciting as you guys :) Lucky for us it didn't rain, but like you guys Stella was afraid of pretty much all the animals, including the horse on the carousel.
