So maybe we've had a wee bit more than just jack frost here in Columbus. I've never experienced an ice storm or "freezing rain" as they call it until we moved here. It is awful. It is probably one of the prettiest things I've ever seen, but driving in it...oh my! This is a good reason to shut down the schools, not like every other day when they shut them down just because it is snowing :) I stepped out my front door yesterday to go get the mail, and almost 2 steps in I almost fell on my face and decided to pack the kids in the car and drive over to the mailbox instead. It was bad! The forcast was for 1/4 inch of freezing rain. This shuts down EVERYTHING (except for Ohio State University). Flights are cancelled, school kids are home yet again (I don't know what parents do that have to work during the day when their kids get to stay home because of snow all the time!)
Anyhow, a few pics of the ice...I wish pictures really showed how pretty it was last night. When the wind blew through the trees, you could hear the branches clanking together. It also put our power out for a while..
Completely covered in a solid sheet of ice!
So to pass the time I had to do a few projects to keep me busy while I've been cooped up inside for a few days. Here are some new Valentine's Day decorations. The heart tutorial can be found at
The Idea Room, and now I want to make some balls with the same felt design. I loved how cute it turned out! The subway art I printed free off of
Fabulous Finds, they have one for every holiday, I think I will just use the same frame and switch it out...they are so cute!
I forgot to write down where I got these two free prints, but they are adorable as well, a good addition to my Valentine decor. Best of all, free! I just found some of my old frames in a box and there you go, a free decoration!
So thank heaven for fun projects to get us through winter, and thank you Phil for the early Spring prediction. It makes me quite happy!
