The Sweet Smell of Roses

This post may not be what you  think it is.  It is all about Buckeye football.  Our Ohio State Buckeyes have clinched their spot in the Rose Bowl this year after winning tonight in an amazing game....GO BUCKS!  January 1st, they will be playing here.....the ROSE BOWL!

Here are a few pics of the 2009 football season (which we had season tickets to again).  I'd also like the share a few gametime traditions for all of you that will never have to opportunity to experience the magical atmosphere "the Shoe" brings!

This is the drum major.  After the band comes onto the field, he runs out and does this crazy backbend  in order to touch his feather on his hat to the ground....
Then the band does Script Ohio...bigtime tradition.  The first game of the year, they actually did 4 at the same time because they had the alumni bands with them as well.  It is quite a feat that they don't crash into eachother weaving in and out and they form Ohio in cursive!
Here's the Bucks coming out on the field before they warm up.  They walk out linking arms to the song "Hells Bells", do this sway back and forth thing, and run out.
The second time they run out is when the band splits in half, and lead by the one and only Jim Tressel in his fabulous sweater vest.  The band starts playing the fight "Across the Field" while the crowd sings along.
The one and only Tressell
The rest you can figure out.  Kickoff. Football is played.  Traditional songs and chants are being screamed out by the fans.  Students jumping up and down to the song "7 Nation Army." You are there with 105,000 of fellow Ohioans cheering on their favorite team.  Here are a couple of the Bucks biggest fans....
After the Iowa game...which we won in overtime....which put us into the Rose Bowl...what a game!  Glad these chickas love the Bucks just as much as I do!
And the fellas....
Storming the field after the big win!
After the game...win or lose...the team, Tressell, and the fans sing the school song "Carmen Ohio." (Which happens to be to the hymn "Come Ye Children of the Lord."
This dog cracked me up.....it was MASSIVE! It was at a tailgate party we went to earlier today. Even the pets around here are sucked into being fans!

While Nate and I were at the games, Tucker was able to hang out with the Scharnhorsts in our ward.  They have 2 cute little kiddos, Claire and Even.  One of the days they took him to a harvest festival of some sort while we were at the game...here's a few pics!

Thank you Bucks for being an awesome team.  It's great to go to a school where the sports teams aren't just good, they are AMAZING!  Especially this football team.  These games have created so many awesome memories.  I don't know what we'll do in the fall after we leave here, I will sure miss these games!

I love that you guys get into the games. It looks like so much fun to live somewhere where they live and breathe football.

That looks like so much fun! I bet it's awesome to be involved and to go to all the games. Nothing like Weber State though... ha ha!
